STORIES: Paola Navone For Carocim

For one of our current project, the clients have decided to use a cement tiles patchwork design for their shower room, a design they had seen used for one of our previous project.

The cement tiles we are using come from Carocim, Cement Tiles specialists located in the South of France since 1986, and with whom Dominique has been working on many projects, for over 10 year.

The range of patterns and colours available is extensive and there is a lot to chose from. We chose our tiles from the “Paola Navone For Carocim” collection, a collaboration between Carocim and the famous Italian Designer.

Each tile was hand picked and carefully chosen, to create the right balance of pattern and colour. For example, we decided to use slightly less black-background tiles, for a smoother finish in a bathroom of that size.

From the collection displayed above, we chose patterns with black, light grey and dark grey backgrounds.

Choosing the pattern/colour mix is only the beginning, once the tiles arrive, the physical and mental workout starts. Alexie had to lay the tiles one by one on the bedroom floor and create the final design pattern. This took just over 3 hours.

The goal was to avoid for 2 exact same tiles to be too close to each other, and to create a good balance between the different backgrounds.

After explaining to the tiler, which way the tiled needed to be laid  in the bathroom, we were finally able to start tiling.

It is still work in progress but we are starting to see the final design of the bathroom.
